Unsettled Baby during a Newborn Photoshoot

The photograph above is one of my favorites. I will always remember this day because it was the first unsettled baby I photographed at the beginning of my photography career. The baby was crying throughout the photoshoot. When it comes to Newborn photoshoots, an unsettled baby always puts mommy in a lot of worries. Well, I too was worried.

The Newborn Photoshoot happens from 7 days on. This is the time when the baby sometimes has COLIC issues which is the main reason the baby doesn't settle. Baby wouldn't like any sort of wrapping or tummy time poses. Baby wants to always be held. As a Newborn Photographer, I am always ready for any such situation. After all, every baby is different. This makes every day a challenging and exciting one for me.

The Photosession with me is a baby-led one. It means the baby is not forced to pose or into a wrap. I give mommy a clear idea prior to the photoshoot on how to prepare the baby.  Preparation is the key to a very relaxed Newborn Photoshoot. Mommy is asked to pack everything the day before the Photoshoot. Especially if there's an older child this preplanning and packing is needed. After all, a relaxed mommy means a relaxed and happy photo session for the whole family.

The studio is a very cozy place for the family. A Newborn Photoshoot will usually take up to two hours. That day with my first unsettled baby, mom was very tired and worried from the baby crying all time and the older sibling too was bothering her. Finally, dad had to come over, and then the baby slept on him. Voila, I got this best-ever shot of baby on dad with mom. To date, this is my favorite photograph. I am not usually a black and white photo person but when photographs have very strong emotions, then I just go for Black and white.

This Photograph is a baby very comfortably sleeping on Dad and Mom kissing is a very perfect portrait for me. The posing and the lighting and the angle, everything so perfect. Beyond all that it is filled with emotions.

Some days are like that. Very hard, scary, and stressful. But at the end of the day, we make it! That evening going through the photos on my MacBook, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was such an amazing gallery that I made for the parents. I love my job as a Newborn Photographer. I make masterpieces for people to keep all life. Something they are going to treasure. It is very satisfying to be helpful to people around.

I would love to hear from you. If you like to know more about my newborn photo sessions, do get in touch. Looking forward to photographing your family.
